As 2025 comes to a close, one thing is clear to anyone paying attention: this was not a year of stability or reassurance. It was a year that tested Americans’ patience, finances, freedoms, and sense of security. For those of us in the prepping community, it was also a year of grim validation.
What many dismissed for years as “paranoia” or “overthinking” became everyday conversation at kitchen tables across the country. Families worried about grocery bills. Retirees watched savings lose value. Parents questioned whether their communities were still safe. Power outages, supply disruptions, political chaos, and government overreach became routine headlines rather than rare emergencies.
This article is written from the perspective of Americans who lived through it, prepared for it, and, in many cases, weathered it better because they did.
A Government at War With Itself
If there was one defining theme politically in the United States in 2025, it was a federal government increasingly at odds with itself. Nevertheless, the problem wasn’t leadership, but years of institutional resistance and long-ignored failures catching up all at once.
👉 The Crisis That Will Soon End America
The year opened with President Donald J. Trump beginning his second term after the 2024 election, a clear sign that Americans wanted strong leadership and a government that works for them again. Voters were looking for a president willing to take on the problems that had been ignored for too long and put the country back on a steadier path.
As President Trump returned to office, he moved to take charge and get things moving, but he stepped into a system that had grown resistant over many years. A divided Congress and a slow-moving federal bureaucracy made real change harder than it should have been.
The Shutdown That Hit Working Americans First
One of the first major challenges of the new term was the federal government shutdown, which lasted 43 days and became the longest in history. It happened because Washington couldn’t agree on how to spend taxpayer money.
President Trump pushed for a budget that reflected the priorities voters had just supported, while Democrats held out for continued funding of Affordable Care Act subsidies without making broader changes to the system.
In the end, President Trump signed a bill to reopen the government so federal workers could get back to work and families wouldn’t be stuck in the middle any longer. The shutdown showed something many conservative voters already understood: even with a Republican president, change in Washington is slow and difficult.
During that time, federal employees missed paychecks, small businesses faced uncertainty, and everyday Americans felt the impact of Washington’s dysfunction.
Healthcare Costs Become a Political Casualty
Toward the end of the year, the Senate voted down a bill that would have kept certain government support for health coverage going a little longer.
Many conservatives saw the vote as a result of a broken system that relies on temporary patches instead of real, lasting fixes.
Nevertheless, for people who depend on healthcare, the effects were real. Seniors on fixed incomes faced higher costs for prescriptions and routine care. Working families saw their monthly insurance bills go up, along with higher deductibles and co-pays.
Without meaningful reform, costs are expected to keep rising into 2026. That puts more pressure on families who are already watching every dollar. Medical bills remain one of the biggest reasons people fall into debt, forcing too many Americans to choose between their health and their financial security.
Protests, Immigration Enforcement, and Public Unrest
In June 2025, the Trump administration started enforcing immigration rules again after years of being ignored. When ICE began operations in Los Angeles, organized protests quickly broke out near federal buildings. These protests showed how these policies had protected illegal activity from consequences.
The media called the protests “mostly peaceful,” but that wasn’t the reality. Rioters set cars on fire, destroyed local businesses, and shut down major roads. Federal buildings had to be guarded by armed security while local leaders stood by and failed to act.
This is what happens when politics come before law and order. When the law isn’t enforced, chaos follows. A country can’t stay safe or stable if its laws are treated like suggestions instead of rules.
This is why you should be truly aware of what’s about to come. Most people sense it, but few are willing to say it out loud. This video exposes the truth many are afraid to talk about:
From June 7 to June 9, 2025, President Donald Trump stepped in to restore order. He federalized the California National Guard and deployed about 4,000 troops to protect federal buildings and keep the peace. When threats continued, 700 U.S. Marines were positioned to protect personnel, all done legally, without using the Insurrection Act and fully within federal law.
The media tried to paint the unrest as ordinary citizens rising up, but people on the ground saw the truth. Years of ignored immigration laws finally collided with real enforcement. The chaos was the result of letting the law slide for too long.
For many working Americans, this was a wake-up call. Public safety suffers when local leaders refuse to enforce the law, and order breaks down when federal laws are treated as optional.
Survival, Economy and National Stability
While Washington consumed itself with political battles, everyday Americans felt the real consequences elsewhere – at the grocery store, at the bank, and in their own communities.
Food Prices and a Strained Supply Chain
Food prices were already rising before 2025, but this year they became a turning point. Long-standing problems in the U.S. food system were finally confronted instead of ignored.
President Trump took action where past administrations had delayed. He used existing tariff laws to fix unfair trade, protect American farmers, and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers.
At the same time, the administration addressed another issue that had been quietly shaping agriculture for years: a labor system heavily dependent on illegal workers.
In early 2025, the federal government restarted interior immigration enforcement and made it clear that labor laws would be enforced across all industries. This change was especially visible in California’s Central Valley, where farming had come to rely heavily on unauthorized seasonal labor due to lax local policies.
They say America is one of the richest countries in the world, yet millions struggle every day just to make ends meet. So where is the economy really headed next year? This video reveals the truth they don’t want you to see:
Federal Aid for Farmers, Limited Relief for Consumers
In response to growing pressure from the agricultural sector, the federal administration rolled out a $12 billion aid package for American farmers late in the year. The funds were structured largely as one-time bridge payments, aimed mostly at row-crop producers dealing with export uncertainty and higher input costs.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins described the plan as a temporary stabilization measure, while stressing the need for farmers to remain competitive in global markets.
👉 4 Ingenious “Anti-Inflation” Strategies President Trump Is Using to Safeguard His Wealth
For consumers, however, the relief was hard to see. Despite talk of “affordability tours” and economic messaging from Washington, grocery bills continued to rise. At the same time, housing and rent costs surged in many parts of the country, placing additional strain on middle-income and working families who were already budgeting carefully just to stay afloat.
Natural Disasters Expose Fragile Infrastructure
In August, heavy flash flooding around Milwaukee overwhelmed old drainage systems, knocked out power stations, and left thousands of families without electricity, clean water, or a way to communicate for days.
Many people affected were frustrated with the federal response. Help showed up slowly and unevenly, and residents were expected to fill out complicated requests for aid at a time when phones, internet, and even basic power weren’t working. For families already dealing with damage and loss, it made a bad situation worse.
The flooding became another example of a bigger issue: when disasters hit, the systems meant to help often aren’t ready. It pushed leaders in Washington to start talking about major changes, with the goal of making disaster response faster, simpler, and more focused on what people actually need on the ground.
As the year comes to an end, my advice for you is to get your prepping game to the next level. If you think you have all you need for what comes next, then this warning message might change your mind:
Moreover, in affected areas, gas stations closed and electronic payment systems failed. Communities that relied entirely on just-in-time delivery and digital infrastructure found themselves exposed within hours. Similar patterns emerged nationwide as wildfires, floods, and severe storms stressed systems already operating near their limits.
Big Tech Is Watching You and You Didn’t Vote for It
Behind the scenes, private tech companies are quietly building a massive surveillance system that works hand-in-hand with government agencies. Most people have no idea it’s happening. These companies sell tools that track faces, license plates, phone data, and personal records, then hand that power to police and federal authorities with little oversight.
This system didn’t come from Congress or a public vote. It grew slowly through contracts, software deals, and “public safety” promises.
👉 How to Charge Your Phone with No Electricity
If you’re wondering how this happens, this is how it works: data gets collected, stored, and shared, often without clear limits or real oversight. Once you’re in the system, it’s hard to know who’s watching or how your information is being used.
The warning is simple: when private companies control the tools of surveillance, regular people lose control fast. What starts as crime-fighting can turn into constant monitoring of everyday Americans. And once that power exists, it rarely gets rolled back.
Gun Laws Enter a Legal Gray Zone
For many Americans, guns are not about politics. They are about self-defense, family safety, hunting, and, of course, upholding a Constitutional right. Millions of people own guns and never harm anyone.
But in 2025, some lawmakers and activists kept pushing for stricter gun laws or full bans on certain firearms. These efforts are often explained as “public safety,” but many proposals go far beyond that. These plans would make it harder for honest citizens to buy or keep guns, even if they have done nothing wrong.
The truth is that criminals do not follow laws, and most gun crimes are already illegal under current rules. But new bans often affect regular people, not violent offenders.
It is also true that guns must be bought legally, and misuse comes with serious penalties. These facts are often ignored in public debates. Responsible gun owners follow the law, train properly, and understand the weight of owning a firearm. They are not the problem, and treating them like one does not fix crime.
At its heart, this issue is about rights and trust. A free country trusts its citizens to act responsibly. The Second Amendment was written to protect the people, not to be adjusted whenever politics change. Honest discussion matters, and so does the truth. Gun ownership is a right paired with responsibility, and millions of Americans prove every day that those two things can exist together.
What 2025 Confirmed for Preppers
As 2025 comes to a close, the year stands as confirmation rather than surprise. The stability many Americans were encouraged to trust failed once multiple pressures arrived at the same time.
Political dysfunction, economic strain, supply disruptions, natural disasters, and public unrest did not unfold independently – they overlapped and magnified one another. What felt disorienting to much of the country simply exposed weaknesses that had existed for years, waiting for sustained pressure to reveal them.
Throughout the year, those weaknesses showed up in everyday life. For households already stretched thin, there was little margin for error.
What does this mean for you? It means 2025 reinforced the reason prepping exists in the first place. Stability can no longer be assumed, and dependence carries real risk. If this year taught us anything, it’s that prepping is about being ready for reality as it is.
Final Thoughts
History doesn’t announce turning points while you’re living through them. 2025 will only be understood clearly in hindsight, as the year many Americans realized the systems they relied on were no longer guaranteed. What comes next matters less than what you do now. The people who act before it shuts won’t need permission, explanations, or rescue later.

Ummm, I don’t know how dumb you believe your readers are, but the reason most people voted for Trump this time was NOT because we thought he was a strong leader, but because he PROMISED to release every last word of the Epstein files. People switched party affiliation to vote for a FULL RELEASE of the Epstein files. We also foolishly believed that we’d get a better but cheaper Obamacare. But we got lied to about that too. We also voted for shutting Russia down and ending the war against Ukraine “on Day One”. Instead he’s still taking orders from Putin like the weak little slave he is.
I hedged my bets by buying goods and plumping up my good sources starting before the 2024 election (because I still believed every single poll that promised the black lady would win and the militias would attack the US from within). I’m STILL eating stored food from over a year ago.
Just so you know, Kamala Harris has zero BLACK genes! Proven already!!! She is a huge liar and would do anything/say anything to get votes! Her actual ancestry that can be traced shows she is part Irish and part Jewish (Syrian Jew, if I remember correctly and her ancestors were known as slave owners!!
She’s black. Get over it. No one at her all black school bent themselves into contortions trying to say she wasn’t black.
Someone’s race should never be the reason people vote for or against them. What should matter are their qualifications, experience, policies, and track record.
Voters should look past labels and focus on competence and honesty. Identity alone doesn’t make someone capable of doing the job, and criticism or support should be based on actions and results, not background.
Epstein is a zit on a gnats ass compared to the real problems we face. Try to keep up
Then Epstein’s wingman shouldn’t have run on almost the sole promise of releasing the Trump files… uh, the gnat’s ass files.
Trump and everything he pretended to stand for are all garbage and lies. He’s lining his pockets while picking yours and mine. He’s only still supported by the lowest IQ crowd. This next three years if they can keep him alive are going to be hard to sustain. It’s even worse if a MAGAtwat replaces him afterward. America needs some FOR THE PEOPLE rulers, not the FOR ME FOR ME FOR ME rulers.
How about YOU keep up.
Seems like propaganda mote than news. As a person on the ground during the protests, it was mostly the people who were protesting the government with some bad apples starting fires and creating damage. This happens all the time. People come out and protest and then go home. A few hours later the bad apples show up and wreck things. Two separate groups of people but for some reason, (maybe the people reporting it have an agenda?), both groups get combined. We saw it in 2020 and we are seeing it again in 2025. Food prices are high for one major reason, because for the most part fruits and vegetables are imported. Change the tariffs and companies are going to pass on the price hike. Its why many say tariffs are taxes. Its why beef prices are higher. Livestock feed is imported. Brazil is the largest exporter of livestock feed. So if they are being charged 50%, then livestock feed will go up 50%. Which means meat prices will go up 50%. And if China and the US get in a trade war, it means the millions of US soybean growers just got screwed by the government. We wouldn’t be adding to the US debt by bailing out our farmers if there wasn’t a trade war. It’s pretty simple to see why prices are rising. Its the government stupid.
Can you explain what you mean by propaganda?
The information shared is based on verified facts and official sources. People may not agree with every conclusion, and that’s fine, but disagreement doesn’t automatically mean something is propaganda. Also, regardless of personal views, Trump is the elected President of the United States, chosen by the people, and we talk about him with respect for that reason.
You bring up some fair points about protests, tariffs, and prices, and those are important conversations to have. Different writers will have different perspectives, but the goal is always to report accurately. So, if there’s something specific you think is incorrect, feel free to point it out—facts are always worth double-checking.
People voted for trump because what other choice did we have?
Howdy from an undisclosed location high in the desert swamp,
I grew up in the Missouri Ozarks. In 1967 billboards were put up telling people, TV from Jefferson City would start broadcasting, the time and the date. People bought antennas and TV’s. I was sitting with my Grampa having dinner and watching the fly races. The screen changed to the radiation symbol. Straight up 6:00 pm the Evening News with Harry Reasoner and Howard K. Smith came on. The very first segment showed tanks rolling in Jerusalem. My 7 year old mind went to the end times as many Baptist preachers thundered. My Grampa was a calm preacher and I was not afraid of him. I asked, is this the battle before the end of time? He looked at me and said no and I will tell you why afterwhile. We finished and did the evening chores and I sat with him. He told me the news was showing a movie from a week ago. This is the first film they have shown but it is old news. He told me about Matthew chapter 24. This is 1967 and the cartoon Jonny Quest showed SKYP technology in cartoon form. A video phone on his wrist. This was still a radio and newspaper society. He told me he has no idea how but there will be a day when there will be way for people all over the planet to get news instantly. People say Matthew 24 is old news and already happened. No, it hasn’t. Many people did not know Israel was at war until the news tonight. A week later unless they listened to the radio. How does the world know about earthquakes except under where you sit? How do people know about famine, floods, disasters? War or rumors of war? How would the disciples who are not military or in government know of these things? They can’t but one day we will know immediately. No, this isn’t the end times war.
Since that time, I watched technology advance. I watched as TV broadcast went from stations to satellites. From networks to cable to satellite to fiber optic television. In 2018 I got a call from a man who was at Normandy National Cemetery. I had told him I have a cousin buried there from WWII. I heard TAPS being played and the Colors were flapping in the wind. When the music died off, he panned down and my there was my cousin’s headstone. I got real time video from France on my phone. A few days later I texted a friend who is a cruise ship entertainer. I asked where in the world are you today? He texted back he is off the coast off Antarctica. We texted back and forth and he sent pictures. Another continent, France. Bottom of the world Antarctica and my reception was 5×5.
Matthew chapter 24 is alive and on the move. The technology for the Mark of the Beast is already here. Cashless is happening more and more. Look at the degradation of society worldwide. Well, it’s always been that way. True but, the difference is we didn’t know about it and certainly couldn’t coordinate instantly. Europe was here in Jesus’ time. China was here, Asia, India, Africa, England, Norway were all here. How would anyone know of new war or famine back then? They didn’t. Matthew 24 is for today.
My strong suggestion is to keep preparing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this effort as I have found during hurricanes and wildfires. My stronger suggestion is look at your church if you attend. Actual ask your pastor to prove your doctrine. If they cannot point to chapter and verse on how to receive salvation you are the one of the many of “many will be deceived.”
We mark our times by disasters and wars. The US is:
Revolutionary war times,
Civil war times
Indian war times
Spanish American war times
WWI
Depression,
WWII
Korea,
Vietnam… We mark our times from suffering. Biblically it will get worse. Much worse. This life is short. The next is eternal. Make certain you have followed the Bible and not well, it’s a good idea…
Remember the Alamo
Remember Pearl Harbor
Remember 9/11
Remember North Carolina
Spend more time preparing your soul. It’s eternal
Chap Dan, thumbs up
the rest, some of you need to remove a layer of wool. I cant do it for you. better start checking up on the media you watch, until then, nothing can help you. IF you think I am talking about your post, maybe, maybe not. If you think I am not talking about you, maybe, maybe not.
EVERY ONE needs to VERIFY anything they hear or see from mass media.
PS if its social media, you MUST double and triple check.
Free money free food, free, free – there, a hundred of you just decided to believe everything I said.
PS, if you think health care is expensive now, wait till its free. R.L. the day Obama was sworn in. Learn from that.
Socialism, Its not a failure because of WHO gave it to you, its a failure because it is always a failure. You dont FIX it, you end it – thats the only way to fix free.
As a writer, and speaking for many on the staff, I support this kind of attitude. We do our best to provide accurate information and not contribute to panic. At the same time, every writer brings their own vision and perspective.
That said, one thing should never be optional: always verify information. Always!
Especially when it comes to mass media—and even more so with social media—double-check, triple-check, and question the source before accepting anything as fact.
Thumbs up, Kre.
my re response to staff, you did GREAT.
the propaganda, I believe they are talking about, has nothing to do with you.
Its all about your news source, your ability to QUESTION what they report, AND if you like facts or a story that fits your personal narrative.
PS if the story is EXACTLY what you expect, you should spend TWICE as long investigating it. What ever the story is, look for the media that should be against it, if they are taking the opposite view, thats a hint. So staff, you get a solid thumbs up.
IE, no WMD in Iraq – except according to MSNBC, there WAS and it then got shipped to CANADA, because their reactors use that yellow cake as fuel. Now when they admit there WERE WMD, you know its TRUE – despite the rest of the left saying its not true
I guess you could say the word…preppers….covers a lot of different people if not everyone .I give President Trump …a thumbs up….for the year 2025….I give Mother Nature ….a thumbs up for being….Mother Nature….And a big thumbs to God for putting up with us ….just my opinion. Wish all a happy new year .
Chaplain Dan, good stuff! However Dick Tracy and his wristwatch communicator predated your cartoon’s wristwatch communicator by two decades!
Everything else is golden.
Howdy again,
Dick Tracy was a comic book. We got belt whippings for reading “commie inspired garbage.”
I really didn’t know about many of these characters until way later.
Hey turd patriot. 0 -5 says you lose, loser. And oh yeah, no way a loser like you can keep up. So just shut up.
Let’s keep the tone respectful here. This comment section is read by many people, and we ask everyone to speak accordingly.
Also, calling someone a patriot shouldn’t be offensive, because loving your country isn’t an insult.
You’re welcome to disagree, but please do so without personal attacks. Respectful discussion benefits everyone reading.
Ask a Prepper Staff-
politics have ruined many prepper websites, trolls feed on the subject. please tread lightly on the subject.
It’s about Control, Control, Control..
Don’t hurt anyone’s fillings, and everyone gets a trophy, even the loser’s. Be fair,
Good job guys…
Now we can all get along when the SHTF.
Howdy again,
Trolls are the reason we prep, try to maintain our freedom, and try to plan for an uncertain future. All these laws against We the People are not about safety. Not about health and welfare. It’s about control. Controlling you and me with taking away and the government taking the control. Recent history: the biden lockdown. The government said close the church. The government said wear a mask. The government said get the JoeJab.
It’s interesting the comments the last few days. The trolls are here. I personally learn from them. They are the thoughts of half the country. This is what makes me go check my stuff. This makes me get the tent set and stay in it a couple nights to see what I need. It’s set up in the yard and I have young grands staying with me. It’s 40 degrees. I figured out I need a new body. This hopefully will not be my new residence one day but, I have practiced my fire making skills. I have gone through my BOB. I have checked my blankets and after a search, found my sleeping bag. Trolls if looked at as the opposition, they are, can be useful. This is what half the country believes.
Scary. Sad. Irritating but, useful for incentive.
Remember the Alamo
Remember Pearl Harbor
Remember 9/11
Remember North Carolina
Remember to practice your skills!
Remember to have your soul prepared
It happens even without any mention of anything related to politics 😉
You hit the nail on the head. Our federal and state elected officials need to get their shit together and quit stealing from us the taxpayers.
Ask a prepped staff.
So referring to 70 million voters as the “low IQ crowd” and MAGAtwats and implying that our president will be shot (Patriot) passes your being respectful of others test?
Similar things are being said about the other side of the political spectrum in other articles. It was not implied that he will be shot, the mention was if they keep him alive because of his real or imagined health problems that keep getting discussed in the media these days, most likely.
We are not politically affiliated so such mentions will be allowed for both sides. They also appear even if there is zero mention of politics in an article. If people want to argue about politics, it is their right to do so. We focus on things that are real and not political disputes or name calling, which should not even be mentioned from any side in the first place.
The problem wasn’t leadership??? Are you out of your fucking mind? We have a demented imbecile in the White House that more brainwashed stooges voted for.
If you can’t see that I pity you.
Hey Jon Hogan.
Joe Bidens not the president anymore.
Right…
Butt, good comment about Biden. lol…
stay sharp
This article and most of the comments including from the “Staff” are very inaccurate and one sided towards the very far-left. Many are talking out-of both sides of their spectrum. Hopefully 2026 will prove that the “MEGA” and other far-right members have missed the big and small picture of the country. Another topic that has not been addressed is how thin our military have been spread thin over thee planet. Not to mention just about to get the country into multiple conflict around the world.
