The Biggest Threats to Preppers in the Next 10 Years

The Biggest Threats to Preppers in the Next 10 Years

Life is dangerous. It always has been and it always will be. That’s why we’re preppers; we know things can go badly wrong, and we mean to be ready if they do. Prepping is all about understanding, and preparing for, the world’s dangers.

Ironically, though, just being a prepper can bring its own dangers. We do things most people don’t. We buy things most people don’t. Worst of all, we attract the kind of attention most people don’t.

That’s why just about every prepping website ends every year with a look forward to what hazards preppers could face in the next one. That’s always worth doing, but sometimes it helps to look more than a year ahead. What sort of problems could we face as preppers in the next ten years? Here are my best guesses.

The Economy

In the short term, inflation is still a big worry; it’s come down from its 2022 peak, but we’re not out of the woods yet and recently it’s started to creep up again. However, there could be economic problems ahead that make recent inflation look like a minor hiccup.

The Biggest Threats to Preppers in the Next 10 YearsOur government is addicted to debt.

In his first three years in office Biden borrowed $6.32 trillion dollars. Someday that has to be paid back, and until then we’re paying interest on it. And, every year, the government borrows even more.

We’re not even trying to pay off what we owe already, and the interest payments are steadily growing. As they eat more and more of the tax we pay, the government has to borrow even more money to avoid spending cuts. It’s a deadly spiral that’s getting tighter and steeper.

Eventually that spiral is going to come crashing down. Either taxes will rise so high millions of Americans will be driven into poverty, or government spending will need to be slashed ruthlessly.

Either of those scenarios is going to leave a lot of hungry people looking for resources they can steal – and if they know you’re a prepper, your stockpiles will be a tempting target. That’s why I’ve already installed on my property these automatic backyard traps and alarms against looters and intruders. And you should probably do the same.

Civil Unrest

The US has always had a lively democracy, but it’s no longer a healthy one. Our politics has become dangerously polarized.

It used to be that even if 49% of the population hated the way an election turned out, they’d accept the result and hope their guy won next time.

That started to change in 2000, when many Democrats refused to accept George W Bush’s election victory.

The Biggest Threats to Preppers in the Next 10 Years

Then there was 2016, with thousands of protesters insisting Donald Trump was “#NotMyPresident,” and then the contested election in 2020.

Whoever wins this year it’s a dead certainty that tens of millions of Americans will refuse to accept it, while politicians and activist judges try to overturn the election result.

The level of hysteria and polarization in our system is even higher than it was in 2020; we’re likely facing a tense four years, with no guarantee the 2028 election will make things better. Would you bet against widespread violence next January, when the president is inaugurated?

Pandemics

The 2020 COVID managed to be a disaster even though the disease itself wasn’t all that dangerous.

Efforts to stop the virus spreading led to one of the fastest and most dangerous expansions of government power in history. For the first time ever, whole industries were shut down and people forced to stay at home as much as possible.

We live in a globalized world now; thanks to large-scale migration and affordable air travel, diseases can spread further and faster than ever before.

There will be more global pandemics, and even though lockdowns don’t seem to have done much to stop COVID spreading – Sweden never shut itself down, and didn’t suffer any worse than we did – that probably won’t stop governments trying them again.

During a pandemic, access to medical care and basic medications will be scarce, as it was the first time around. Before that happens, add these 10 medical supplies to your stockpile, as they will be the first to disappear in a crisis.

Gun Control

The Biggest Threats to Preppers in the Next 10 Years

Most preppers own at least one gun, and the most popular firearms for preppers are the sort gun control advocates hate the most – handguns and “military style” long guns, like semiautomatic sporting rifles and pump-action shotguns.

Right now things are actually looking quite good for the Second Amendment.

Some recent Supreme Court decisions have struck down state or local anti-gun laws, including restrictive handgun laws in New York and Chicago.

There are plenty laws left, though, and liberal lawmakers are constantly pushing to resurrect the 1994 “assault weapon” ban. Semiautomatic rifles and “high-capacity” magazines are the usual targets, but gun control is a slippery slope.

Related: The Guns the Government Doesn’t Want You to Have

If its advocates ever manage to ban “assault weapons” it won’t take them long to find something new to aim for. They’ll never be satisfied until all guns are banned.

War

Remember when the Soviet Union collapsed and social scientists confidently proclaimed “the end of history”? The Cold War was over. Governments slashed defense spending and poured the money into social programs instead. How smart does that look now?

Russia doesn’t have the military power the old USSR did, but Vladimir Putin is trying to rebuild his armed forces – and he’s a lot more aggressive than the Soviets ever were. NATO leaders are warning that Putin is prepared to start a war with the west.

Worse, there are other hostile states rising. China is a lot richer than Russia and is investing heavily in its military. Its technology isn’t up to US standards, but it isn’t bad, and, unlike Russia, the Chinese military is backed up by a strong economy.

Iran is a different challenge; it can’t compete with the US (or even Russia) in high-tech weapons, but it can make crude but effective drones and missiles in large quantities. Then it exports them to where they’ll cause the most trouble. Russia is using Iranian drones to bombard Ukrainian cities; the Houthi terrorists are using them to attack ships in the Red Sea.

Then of course there’s North Korea, a rogue state ruled by an eccentric dictator and armed with nuclear weapons. North Korea might have the ability to put a nuclear warhead in a satellite, creating the perfect system for an EMP attack – and the regime’s possibly crazy enough to use it. Compared to the world now, the Cold War was an oasis of peace and stability.

With inflation creeping up again and many US cities suffering from out of control crime, it’s easy to let all your attention get focused on what’s happening right now. If you want to survive, though, you need to be ready for what could happen next year, or in ten years. It’s never too early to start preparing.

That’s why I rely on this guide. It’s not your average survival manual; it’s a practical tool where you can learn the forgotten wisdom of our ancestors who didn’t just survive in the wilderness – they thrived there.

This handbook teaches you how to prepare for uncertain times and learn from those who made the wilderness their home.  So, when the need arises, make sure this you have it in your backpack; it might just be your lifeline in tumultuous times.

I want to add in another:
    Stupefication / Idiocracy
The relentless dumbing down, use of AI and ‘algorithms” to forever channel people into deeper and deeper holes of blinkered thought, and the loss of differentiation between education and entertainment.

We are being cycled into an edutainment world of nonsense, with no room for critical thought or analytical skill development.

We let this all happen on our watch.
We got distracted by the misinformation of community organizers, vegans, environmentalists, politicians, liberal family members, Definitely bureaucrats, internet, social media and smartphones.
We got soft, our we the precedents of the greatest nation or plain wimps of Carter, Clinton’s, OBAMA’s and now the Biden generations?
Now we got an invasion of the world mostly our enemies, China, the middle east terrorist sleeper cells coming across the southern open border today.

It is not a matter of if, but when we have a bunch of 911’s, a massive Pearl Harbor attack looming soon while the elites hide in their bomb shelters.

I’m not having it. I knew better. I spoke out against it. I warned plenty of people. I voted for more conservative government. I remained self-sufficient as much as possible. I served my country in the military. I am the leader of my neighborhood. Nope. I’m not part of your “we, our” group.

Every liberal believes the United Nations will save the day as the UN is run by tin pot dictators, pedophiles, backed by elites like George Soros and son, China CCP, middle east terrorist kingpins and drug lords.

Just think of the billions of USA Dollars of military equipment in the hands of despot dictators being used against America. As these terrorist are coming across our southern Bidenomics border?

Build the wall and drill for oil soon or die soon because of Biden – Obama taking down America in front of our lying eyes in real time.

All wars are dumb and stupid caused by wealthy rich elites that have nothing better to do in life.
The reason we have more women in the world is the women get the men to die in wars for the sake of depopulation. Then they think they can rule by emotional feelings the by male oriented thinking instead.
Obama is that and still is the great divider in chief to change America from God’s Rights to a godless government we are in now with Bidenomics.

God please make America great again, please!

The object has never been to win a war. It has always been to drag the war out as long as possible to keep the money flowing to the MIC and politicians.

I honestly think that the government should have been added to the list. The government does not like people who are self-reliant, in fact they like everybody to be nice little sheep and stay in the cities.
They’re already doing everything they can to try and discredit us, call us insane, and the fringe. Sadly they control the media and the narrative, so everybody in the cities thinks that we are everything mentioned. It’s only a matter of time before the government decides to step in like the night on the white horse and save everyone from us.

Liberal induced public school education is part of the causes due to our downfall.
Worse than drug addiction is the social media addiction to tik tok, FB-Meta, google search engine going to database servers not just to the alphabet agencies like NSA building in Utah but to our inscrutable Chinese CCP.

Go back to landline phones get rid of your smartphones that make us dumb and stupid, not convinced look around to see the stuff happening to us.

I’m not 100% positive of this, but i don’t think we CAN go back to landline phones. Much of that infrastructure has been abandoned. AT&T has been actively cutting support for landline systems for years. They don’t come out and fix landlines anymore. They lie to you and tell you “we checked the line and it’s all good”. Last time that happened at my work, which still has a landline cause inet very spotty, i walked out to the freshly graded gravel road and took a pic of the big wad of telephone cable that the grader dug up. Our business was down for almost 2 weeks, phone wise anyway. Back in the Dark Ages when i was a kid if a phone line got cut it was repaired that day or next. Newsflash! Everywhere does NOT have internet service!!

        Richard Williams,
You do make good points. We can go back to landlines and shove those smartphones to the ground and stamp on them. They are nothing more than distractions to our true purpose on earth.
Screw ATT as they have been hacked and gave our personal information and social security numbers to the dark web criminals. Where they really hacked or made a profit giving information to the hackers?
We are Americans of skilled ingenuity we are built on backyard inventors and can go back to the analog old school technologies.
We can start up businesses to repair the equipment and do things our greatest WWII generations once did.

Close the open borders, kick the Chinese out of and take back our American farmlands, food processing plants and get rid of their Chinese Confucius school system indoctrinating our young generations of oriental communism. Rid us of the Scientology Church that has invaded Hollywood and government for decades.

We do have the will to do the right stuff, we have been distracted by foriegn entanglements encouraged by the weak willed low life Americans in charge lately.
Don’t give up, GOD is with us, bless our America.

Or they will the misguided bureaucrats will eventually implode as seen in other cultures past and present.
The country has been going to the dark side since the insane lunatics have taken over the asylum of the street hobos who have invaded all of our American culture. That God gave us to the Native Americans to the Christian honest people living together. Not by the Dino’s, Rino’s or the Cino’s or D’s, R’s and Christian in name only society.
      Wake up America!
We can repeal all that matters by building the wall and drill for oil without the dementia pig as president has fudge up totally.
One jerk in power tells the rest of the country what to do, BS!
That happens in banana republics elsewhere, time to stand up to the bully as Jesus Christ did many years ago.
      No fear!
      God bless America!

One note that should be added is that debt and government overreach are not one party, both Republicans and Democrats have a problem with debt and overreach. Elections can be a problem as well. Many had a sour taste in their mouth with Bush not allowing a recount in 2000. The Not My President movement started then. Fast forward to 2016, Hillary was forecasted to win. So of course Democrats were a little sore, but most just said wait for 4 years. There was a very small minority that said “Not My President “ immediately after the election. The Not My President movement under Trump started a year later when the honeymoon with Trump was over. Some started with his ban on foreigners. Many more started after he reneged on a deal with Pelosi over the budget. Then came his ill fated trade war with China and his response to Covid. Right or wrong Trump tended to push towards his base. 2020 was a repeat of the 2000 election but the party’s were opposite. But recounts were allowed and court cases heard. Then the riot/insurrection of 2021 furthered the polarization. Each side saw the participants differently. You also saw the military veer from its conservative stance to a more moderate stance. Most military/exmilitary saw it as more than a riot. Hopefully 2024 will be closer to normal, because the nation may not bear a second riot/insurrection. Preppers come from both parties so its not in our best interest to get caught up in these fights.

I agree 100%. If it was up to me I would never vote again and just try and keep to my own, but I feel obligated as an American that I must vote. But we must also remember that when you vote for the lesser of two evils you’re still voting for evil. At this point unfortunately I think what this country needs or maybe even the world is a reset. But I’m just scared on who will be doing to resetting and resetting to what? Either way I’m hoping that by the time I retire that I will have a house out in the sticks and try and go is off grid as possible, but in the meanwhile we’re stuck with this world. Best to keep to our own and just let the rest burn.

If Trump wins he plans 60-100% tariffs on imports from China which will wreck our economy, so it’s economic destruction. If Biden wins we’ll be in a general European war against the Rooskies, again economic destruction but with a few nukes thrown in, too. So, enjoy life to the fullest while also working towards self sufficiency and a big stash of toilet paper.

In chaotic crisis times people bring up the second coming when desperation comes to us.
God also in the bible tells us to be independent, resourceful be righteous to do the right thing in the face of being outnumbered.

God wants us to fight for our freedom and land of the brave than lay down in a fetal position of no hope.

      Hey Don,
No human knows when the day of the revelation’s second coming will be. For centuries man has been forecasting that day. God does not tell us he will take his time as one day is a thousand years in his plan.

It is up to us Americans to to be free in the face of insurmountable odds of winning or loosing America.
Remember David and Goliath, guess who won?
