My thinking is that if there are people saying it out loud now… when there will be no food, no water and no active law enforcement… how many will actually turn into looters and killers?
When his child will starve to death in his arms, your now-friendly neighbor might not give a S. about your life. When you won’t have enough to help him, he might turn into your enemy. So keep your cards to yourself!
One of the tenets of long-term preparedness is something we refer to as Operational Security, or OPSEC. The goal is to build our stockpiles, strategies and friendships without the knowledge of the general public, or in many cases, even our neighbors or acquaintances.
Why?
Because when it hits the fan, and there’s no food in grocery stores and violence erupts all around us, we’ll have the supplies to survive and the defensive initiative to protect what’s ours. The last thing we want is for those who failed to heed the warnings, to come knocking on our doors looking for handouts or a place to weather the storm. The fact is, our supplies are limited, so operating on the down-low is an important strategy to ensure our safety in the midst of disaster.
But taking the time and effort to plan effectively is not the only strategy being implemented by those who expect the worst.
There are those out there who have a different idea of how they’ll acquire necessary supplies should the system as we know it destabilize.
And that plan is to come for what you own.

why would anyone expect anything less? It WILL be survival of the fittest. It will be dominated by those who have guns, are willing to break the law, and willing to use their guns … if they haven’t used their guns to prevent the decay that brought us this low … they don’t deserve to keep them and are fair game for all.
When that day comes there will be no law. A real Prepper should be multi faceted. Preppers have to evolve to defend what is there’s. Lawlessness will abound when SHTF. More than one weapons system will be the norm.

Been telling you people this for a while.. Most of us military or former military will be the good guys.. However there IS an element that will take their training, link up with others and form combat units.. units that are trained and combat effective and experienced.
That is why when I hear about people stocking up years worth of food and water, 50,000 rounds of ammo and hundred of guns they have collected, I shake my head… Why? Because you are targets. And because WHEN, not if, WHEN you are taken out by a 25 man team of former military who went bad, you will have just given them all that food, ammo and those weapons to supply their needs for years of which they WILL use to grow their own unit and become something to be truly worried about.
The ONLY hope we will have is for those like me with the same or better training and military experience forming up and creating ‘good’ combat units that can fight and stand against those that go bad… We are the only ones that will be able to do so… and you better hope there are enough of us because otherwise the tyranny that will be brought forth will be unlike anything you can imagine…

Best advice is don’t trust anyone. Keep prep details to yourself. Bring goods in after dark, and pay close attention to the kind of neighbors you have. Loud, obnoxious and inconsiderate = trouble for you after shtf. Buy thick plywood to cover downstairs windows, freight lock to help barricade exterior doors. You won’t be able to keep the determined out, but you can slow them down enough that you have time to respond with force.

I’ve already had a cop tell me that he didn’t need to prepare, as long as he had a gun and his badge he would be able to get everything he needs. First under color of authority and if that doesn’t work, then using force. Scary when you think that he is supposed to be upholding the laws, not figuring out how he can break them. When it comes to the choice of bean or bullets, my choice is bullets. While you can’t eat them, you can use them to help acquire beans. With beans, you are just helpless and you won’t have the beans very long.
When the law is gone and there is chaos in the streets, the only law you need to obey is your moral code. It will keep you focused and give you the drive to do what you can.
If this is so I hope the ex military does better than they have since Vietnam.
The reason we did not win the “Southeast Asia war games” was due to the politicians. (Primarily) Another factor was the news media turning public opinion against the war. But when you take territory from the enemy, then pull out and allow him to walk back in and re-occupy, that’s just insane. Furthermore, the VC knew that all they had to do to escape, was to cross the border into Laos or Cambodia and our ROE prevented us from following and destroying them. If a country is going to send it’s best young men into battle, then that country should be committed to destroying the enemy’s ability to wage war. (PERIOD)
It makes the most logical sense. I prepare myself for the coming storm, but if I need something or a skill I do not have, I will come knocking and try reasonably. If not, I would take it.
Think about it. Your wife is sick and you have no medicine. Your neighbor does but won’t share it. What do you do? Wait and hope she doesnt get worse and die? Or do you take that medicine by force? I would do the latter, not the former.
