If you have a lot of heat, then you can do what power plants do: use the heat to generate steam, and use the steam to spin a turbine. The turbine can drive a generator, which produces electricity. This setup is very common, but it requires a fair amount of equipment and space, but it can also be very compact.

The BioLite Camp Stove is a complete off-grid cooking and powering station powered by wood! Which means that while you’re using the stove to warm yourself, cook food, or simply for a fire, the thermo-electric generator converts the heat from the fire into usable electricity.

The BioLite CampStove generates usable electricity (2 watts) for charging almost all devices, LED lights, mobile phones, and other personal devices.

Burning only wood, the CampStove creates a smokeless campfire that can cook meals and boil water in minutes. Setup is easy, fuel is free, and flames are hyper efficient with performance on par with white gas stoves.

Inside BioLite

camp tove1. Heat – Core technology captures waste heat from the fire through a heat probe attached to the orange powerpack.

2. Electricity – Heat is converted into usable electricity via a thermoelectric generator. This powers a fan and sends surplus electricity to a USB charging port.

3. Air – The internal fan forces air back into the burn chamber dramatically improving combustion and creating a cleaner, more efficient burn.

You can buy or read more details about BioLite Camp Stove. Or if you want to DIY, here are two different types of generators The DIY String Motor or The DIY Back-Up Generator which you can make at home.

I am sick and tired of this sales pitch. Long and boring talk that I cannot fast forward to a sales pitch at the end. Do you not have any integrity at all. Please stop this type of advertising. Just tell me what you have and how much it costs and I will buy or not.

Clearly some of you are not smart and cannot see the clicked here button that takes you to the website where you can buy it

I have their lg. stove & pizza oven. I was so impressed, I searched all over Britain for 1 for our grown kids there. I had the only 1 I could find in country shipped to them. It is the sm.1 pictured. They JUST used it as they JUST had their 1st power failure in yrs. They loved it & that the smoke is ‘recycled’. I HAD sent them a solar cellphone charger. BUT, it is foggy England. So, this was a miracle. I sent a solar charger to my Puerto Rican family, which is the only reason they were able to make calls (in 8 mos.no power). BUT, Puerto Rico is the land of the sun. In rainy/sunny Florida I need both.

Well the stove will last, i would guess for years and years……BUT how long will/should the electric making part going to last? one week, one month, one year or more. Has a actual test been done? If not why. Just like solar cells have a fairly short life time….does this? Again how about some info?
